Communities in Bloom 2022 – Year of the Garden
We would like to invite the whole town to join Communities in Bloom in the celebration of the Year of the Garden. This is a national incentive to acknowledge and celebrate the many, different kinds of gardeners we are. Every bit each of us does helps to beautify our community, clean the air, feed the needy and bring us together.
This year we have been asked by CiB Canada to use the colour red as our base colour to celebrate 2022. The CiB committee will use red in all our plantings and hope the community will join us. Let’s paint the town red (with blossoms)!

Sunflowers to Remember
This past year, the Town of Bon Accord lost a well- loved resident and town historian. Kathy Borreson’s front yard was always filled with the bright and happy faces of sunflowers. Her yard brought joy when you drove past. The members of CiB have decided to honour her this year by including sunflowers in our plantings. And each of us will also plant sunflowers in our own home gardens as a remembrance. If you would like to join us in this celebration of her love of sunflowers, please feel free to poke a couple of sunflower seeds wherever there is a free space. It is a simple as using a couple of seeds out of your wild bird feed. Not only will it brighten up our town, it will also feed the wild birds in the fall and it will honour a lovely and caring member of our community. We thank you for your help.
